Samsung has started the new year with a bang, surprising everyone and beating Google in the security patch game with the initial update. The company has already rolled out the update to its fourth-generation Galaxy devices, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4. However, at that time, it didn’t share the details about it, but now we have all the information about the update.
Samsung January 2024 security patch has addressed mainly high-risk issues
Samsung always publishes the details about the monthly security patches on its official site. According to the information, the latest patch includes 80 fixes for the issues found in the Galaxy devices. From them, there are 6 patches that are identified as moderate risk, 1 is critical, and 68 are addressed as high risk. Along with this, Samsung has also introduced five more patches exclusively for its Galaxy devices.
Samsung also added some fixes to manage some internal functions
Samsung has added five fixes that will fix some functions that are exclusively available on Galaxy devices; more specifically, it has addressed the security issues found in the last few months, including the notification service, Samsung DeX, My files, and the Bluetooth pairing process.
The January 2024 patch will be available to all eligible devices
As you may know, Samsung has already categorized its Galaxy devices into three categories, including monthly security patches, quarterly security updates, and biannual security updates. All the devices listed under these categories will get updates according to their eligibility; for instance, the monthly security update-listed devices will get at least one update per month, while on the other hand, the devices listed under the quarterly list are eligible to get only four security patches in a year.
