Finally, it’s time to take steps in the new era of networks, obviously 6G. For expanding the 6G technology, 10 global brands are looking forward together.

All ten global tech brands, which include Samsung Electronic, Nvidia, Arm, and Microsoft, have formed an alliance to advance 6G technology at Mobile World Congress 2024, as per Samsung. The global network is described as the AI-RAN Alliance, which aims to integrate AI with 6G technology. Here, RAN stands for Radio Access Network.

This time, MWC 2024 runs for four days starting Monday at the Fira de Barcelona Gran Via Convention Center in Spain. The AI-RAN Alliance will be composed of three subgroups with different bases on research and development (R&D): AI for RAN, AI, and AI on RAN. AI for RAN aims to increase the efficiency of wireless communication in frequency, cost, and energy utilizing AI and machine learning, whereas AI and RAN aims on resource management and infrastructure in the integration of AI into wireless communication; AI on RAN aims on developing applications powered by new AI and services for wireless technology.

Head of Samsung Research’s advanced R&D team, Charlie Zhang, stated that “we anticipate the creation of new changes by focusing on AI and 6G networks, innovating the way people interact with technology, and generating new values.”

Samsung Research has monitored the development of next-generation telecommunications technology, AI robots, and healthcare so far. In 2019, the Center established a unit dedicated to 6G and hosted its inaugural 6G forum in 2022. Also, the single-mindedness toward 6G was Samsung Electronics Executive Chairman Lee Jae-Yong’s very first public comment of 2024, as he focused attention on an “unwavering” commitment to telecommunications technology in a visit to the center last month.
