Microsoft debuted its Copilot application for Android in December 2023. The Copilot application is a powerful package of multiple useful AI-powered features. Now the brand is looking forward to its upgraded version.

Microsoft has already designed it in such a way that it can answer users’ questions, write content, and also create images for you, among other things, but now, for more convenience and to deliver the upgraded version to the users, the brand has rolled out a new beta version of the application.

It is being speculated by a post on X Share by a well-known tipster, @MishaalRahman, which stated that “You can now set the Microsoft Copilot app as your default assistant app on Android!”

By this statement, it is pretty clear that the latest beta version of the Copilot app lets you set it as your default assistant application on your Android smartphones. The beta version has appeared with the version number 27.9.420225014.

However, after setting the Copilot application as your default digital assistant, the application opens only while long-pressing the power button or swiping diagonally from the corner of the screen. Other digital assistants, for instance, Google Assistant, Gemini, and Bixby, can analyze the screen and offer various functionalities based on the content on the screen.

Whereas the copilot is not as convenient as others in the scenario, the latest change is a welcome addition, and Microsoft probably also provides it to inquire into the screen similar to other applications to make it more convenient.

The interested ones can easily set Copilot as the default digital assistant on Galaxy smartphones or tablets by just following the steps mentioned here:

Go to Settings >> Apps>> Choose Default Apps>> Digital Assistant>> Device Assistance app >> and select Copilot.

However, it is not exactly clear yet when Microsoft will make these features available in the stable version. At the initial stage of this month, the brand debuted a new user interface for Copilot on Android, iOS, and Windows, and ahead of this, the company launched Copilot Pro, a paid subscription to the chatbot that provides additional features.
