Samsung Brings March 2024 security patch for the Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Galaxy S20 series in the USA
We are just a few days away from next month, but still, Samsung is trying hard to provide the March 2024 update to all the eligible devices. It is worth noticing that the company has already introduced the update to almost all the devices, but it was limited to some regions, so now the company is expanding the update to other regions. Now the Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Galaxy S20 series devices are getting updated.
Samsung has rolled out the March 2024 security patch update for the Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Galaxy S20 series devices in the US. More specifically, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 has started receiving the update for the locked and unlocked variants, which carry the firmware version numbers F916USQS5KXC1 and F916U1UES5KXC1, respectively.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra are getting new updates for the locked variants with the firmware version numbers G986USQS8HXC1, G986USQS8HXC1, and G986USQS8HXC1, respectively. It is worth noticing that the update for the Galaxy S20 is only spotted on the US Cellular network, while the Galaxy Z Fold 2 has been received on almost all the carriers. For the remaining carriers, the expansion of the update will gradually be on more carriers.
March 2024 is one of the standard security patch updates, so don’t expect any visible changes for your devices. However, it will indirectly improve the performance and stability of the device by fixing some internal functions.
For your information, the March 2024 security patch will improve the security of the devices. Going into the details, the update has addressed more than 40 security vulnerabilities, and from them, Google has added 37 fixes for issues found in the Android OS. Along with this, Samsung has also addressed nine more issues with Galaxy devices exclusively.
If you are using the Galaxy Z Fold 2 or Galaxy S20 devices in the US, then you should start receiving notifications of the update availability, but if you haven’t revived the update yet, you can also check the update manually by going to the software update menu through system settings.
