Samsung’s Bixby to Receive ChatGPT-Level AI Boost
Samsung is gearing up to expand its artificial intelligence era, as it is looking forward to adding generative AI to Bixby.
Bixby is Samsung’s voice assistant, which helps to conveniently control all functionalities within Galaxy devices; for instance, phones, tabs, watches, buds, and many more. Now reports are revealing that Samsung has decided to add generative AI to its voice assistant, Bixby.
This is being speculated, as a top executive at the company said that the South Korean giant is taking steps to upgrade the appeal of its devices. Back in 2017, Samsung introduced Bixby on the Galaxy S8 smartphone. Bixby consists of several functionalities, such as live translations or restaurant recommendations.
But somewhere, voice assistants have typically been less conversational and even relied on users asking questions and getting answers, which sounds inconvenient. Now, to overcome this inconvenience, Samsung is looking forward. Chatbots are getting more advanced functionalities day by day and also have the power to handle much more complex queries after the emergence of ChatGPT in OpenAI and its server.
Noticeably, Bixby is far away from facilities, power, and capabilities such as ChatGPT. Similar to many smartphone makers, Samsung is looking to integrate its devices with much more advanced AI features. The brand also introduced a new power package of AI features named Galaxy AI, which includes various features, among which Circle to Search with Google appears more convenient for our daily lives. Now the actual plan is to combine Galaxy AI with Bixby.
Won-joon Choi, executive vice president at Samsung’s firm, stated, “With the emergence of generative AI and LLM (large language model) technology, I believe that we have to redefine the role of Bixby so that Bixby could be equipped with generative AI and become more smarter in the future.”
