Android 15 Offers Up to 3 Hours More Standby Time

Google has already made Android 15 beta 2 available to download. The giant teased Android enthusiasts by suggesting that Android 15 improves backup battery life for up to 3 hours on specific devices.

Android 15 is the next major iteration for Android devices. It is quite obvious that it will bring new improvements, upgrades, changes, and new features; for instance, private space and an extra layer of security to enhance the overall experience. Recently, Google at the I/O 2024 event revealed a hidden novelty: at least up to 3 hours longer backup battery life for some smartphones, and the credit goes to faster Doze mode activation.

At Google I/O, Google executives revealed that Wear OS 5 smartwatches can run marathons with 20% less battery drain as compared to the previous version, Wear OS 4. It is said that this particular improvement comes from several optimizations, including reducing the time the main processor stays awake while writing health data.

Sameet Samat, President of Android Ecosystem, discussed Wear OS 5 and suggested that this new version optimizes background tasks to improve battery life. It highlights running tasks while the watch is charging instead of while you are wearing it. This scheme quite matches the Doze mode of Android, which automatically schedules background tasks during idle periods when the screen is off. Noticeably, in the forthcoming Android 15 update, the Doze mode appears to be getting more convenient improvements.

Doze mode will help activate 50% faster, which can lead to up to 3 hours of extra backup battery breath. This mode is expected to benefit all devices that will receive the Android 15 update.
