Google Wallet is offering a new feature for payment notifications to enhance users’ seamless experience.
Google Wallet is a convenient app that permits you to ditch your physical wallet. It lets you use it for contactless payments directly with your smartphone or smartwatch and store various cards, including loyalty programs, gift cards, and more. It’s an all-in-one digital solution for your everyday needs.
To enhance the user’s seamless payment experience, Google recognizes the importance of Google Wallet and is continuously working to improve it; for instance, to add an extra layer of security, it decided to end support for older devices due to the less secure versions of Android and Wear OS. The giant adds new features to the service to make payment management user-friendly on Android devices.
Google offers offline functionality for certain features, manual archiving for tickets and loyalty cards, and an overall improved security system. Now the brand is looking forward to adding the automatic addition of boarding passes and movie tickets soon. You might remember that notifications for Google Wallet payments used to arrive from Google Play Services, not the Wallet app itself. Now you will get transaction details such as the amount spent, card used, and store name directly from the Google Wallet app.
When you open the Google Wallet app, you are greeted by a request for consent to receive notifications from the application, complete with a prominent message that appears as “Do not miss important updates. Get notifications when you make purchases, get flight updates, and more.”
By tapping on the “Manage Wallet Notification” item, users will be sent back to a system settings page where they can view the six specific categories of notifications available to the app, which are mentioned below:
- Tips to get helpful information regarding how to best use Google Wallet.
- Purchases will show transaction details after making any purchase.
- Passes to get updates on events, flights, and other passes.
- Public Transport lets you stay upgraded on your public transport business.
- Updates and alerts help you get alerts on payment method issues, digital car keys, and more.
- Promotional Campaigns to get the latest details on promotional campaigns and associated rewards and progress.
This new feature is currently available with Google Play Services with version number 24.20.13 and Google Wallet app version 24.18.633340707, but it may take some time to reach all users.
