No WiFi 7 on Galaxy Z Fold 6: FCC confirmed

Samsung is not too far away from launching its sixth-generation foldable devices, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Flip 6. Now again, the fold has picked up on a new certification, which is the USA’s FCC.

The upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6 has already made its mark on a few certifications over the past couple of days, and now, as the new report says, the device currently has a spot on FCC certification. However, the filing for this device doesn’t mention support for Wi-Fi 7. However, the recently launched Galaxy S24 Ultra is certified for Wi-Fi 7, and the Korean brand usually keeps its Galaxy S Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold smartphones on an equal footing, especially when it comes to connectivity features.

The Galaxy Z Flip 6’s FCC certification does not mention Wi-Fi 7 support either. However, it was not expected that the next-generation Galaxy Z Fold 6 would latch on features like Wi-Fi 7 that are built into the Snapdragon chip that will power the phone. Somewhere, these basic lacks are hinting that maybe the giant decided to keep the list of upgrades on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 limited and later will be fulfilled in the Ultra variant.

Apart from the ultra one, there’s also rumors about the Galax Z Fold 6 Slim, which is reportedly larger, thinner, and costs around the same as the standard Fold 6. It is also expected that Wi-Fi 7, the connectivity feature set on the Galaxy Z Fold 6, seems to match that of the recently debuted Galaxy S24 Ultra. Reportedly, it will feature 5G, ultra-wideband, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/6e, NFC, and Bluetooth 5.3 support.
