Unlocked Galaxy S20 receive the May 2024 security patch in the USA

Samsung has rolled out the May 2024 security patch for the Galaxy S20 series in the US; however, earlier today, thelocked variant of these devices already grabbed the May 2024 security patch update, and now it turns to the unlocked variant of the devices.

Users who own the unlocked units of the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra can identify the latest update by the firmware version numbers G981U1UES9HXE2, G986U1UES9HXE2, and G988U1UES9HXE2, respectively.

Samsung May 2024 security patch details

The May 2024 security patch is the latest update, which is limited to bringing some security-related enhancements only. With this update, you will get several patches introduced by Google and Samsung. Notably, Google has brought an update for the enhancement of Android OS-related smoothness; meanwhile, Samsung has also included several patches that allow you to make several changes to your Galaxy devices.

At the same time, the update may also address some issues, so if you encounter any of the issues while using the device, then you should update your device. It is worth noticing that the update is currently spotted in the US, and it is expected that the update will soon expand to more regions.

If you are using the unlocked version of the Galaxy S20, then you should update your device to the latest version. To do that, you just need to go to the system settings, select the software update menu, tap on the “Download and install” option, and wait until it finishes searching.
