Galaxy S25 Ultra May Skip iPhone Like Face ID, Future Models Could Feature It
We have not even entered the second half of 2024, and Samsung has already started gearing up for its Galaxy S25 series, which is supposed to debut in 2025. Despite the next-gen model, it likely will not bring the iPhone-like Face ID feature.
The Korean giant very often changes security features on its flagship Galaxy S-series phones; whereas they previously offered iris scanning similar to Apple’s Face ID, it’s not available on current Galaxy models and potentially won’t be arriving on the upcoming Galaxy S25 Ultra. The new reports reported that facial recognition might appear in the forthcoming flagship Galaxy devices.
If the new reports are to be believed, the Galaxy S25 Ultra would have ‘Polar ID.’ The term here, Polar ID, refers to a polarized facial recognition system that would not sport any additional sensors required by Face ID. Reportedly, this would permit the giant to retain the punch-hole front-facing circular cutout.
Noticeably, a user on X disagrees with the report that Samsung will introduce facial recognition on the Galaxy S25 Ultra. He mentioned the reason behind this is that Samsung is slowly innovating to model itself on Apple, and to confirm this, they were able to make 50MP 3x in the Galaxy S24 Ultra in place of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, and it appears that all of this is to save money.
The tipster also suggests that the Korean brand may not adopt the Face I’D-like technology on the Galaxy S25 Ultra but may introduce it in the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
