Samsung Galaxy Ring’s case supports Qi2 wireless charging

Samsung debuted its first wearable smart ring, the Galaxy Ring. It supports the new Qi2 charging standard, but it doesn’t support magnetic charging.
Back in January 2023, the Qi2 standard was announced, later released in April 2023. At the moment, only one Android device supports it. The major Android brands have not yet released Qi2-certified devices. The Samsung Galaxy Ring is Qi2 certified.
The Galaxy Ring is the first Samsung wearable smart device with Qi2 certification. At the launch event, it was confirmed that the Galaxy Ring’s case could be wirelessly charged using Qi wireless charging, but it wasn’t clear that the case is Qi2 certified.
According to Android Authority, the case of the Galaxy Ring is Qi2 certified. This is being speculated as Samsung’s certification filing highlights the new features and some technical specifications of the smart ring. From the certification, it’s possible to deduce the support of the Galaxy Ring for version 2.0.0 of the Qi2 standard without offering magnetic charging.
Noticeably, the main innovation of Qi2 is the support for the Magnetic Power Profile (MPP). It enables magnetic attachment and correct alignment for charging, just like the MagSafe technology of Apple.
While Samsung has only made the newly launched Galaxy Ring available in particular European countries, including France and Germany, It is expected that soon the brand will expand the availability of its Galaxy Ring widely.
