All Galaxy S25 Models May Use Snapdragon 8 Gen 4

Samsung is all set to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 AP in its upcoming Galaxy S25 series. This marks a departure from the current Galaxy S24 series, which is powered by both Samsung’s Exynos and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon APs.
The reason behind this seems to be the company’s desire to compete more effectively in the AI phone market. The report says that Samsung Electronics has decided to use Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 AP in the Galaxy S25 series. On the other side, the ‘Exynos 2500’ AP, designed by Samsung Electronics’ System LSI Division and produced by its Foundry Division, is considering using it in a foldable phone to be released in the second half of next year, and the Galaxy S25 is scheduled for early 2025.
The AP is responsible for AI functions and graphic processing. Usually, Samsung goes for both Qualcomm and Exynos for its S series smartphones, except for the Galaxy S23 series, which was entirely powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 AP offers an efficient performance boost along with generative AI capabilities. Samsung has chosen to focus on improving the yield and performance of its Exynos 2500 AP for future use. Last year, Samsung surpassed Apple in dominating the premium smartphone brand. Although the market share in terms of sales was effectively lower as compared to Apple’s.
To stand strong, now Samsung aims to compete with Apple in the AI phone market by using Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 AP in the forthcoming Galaxy S25 series. Initially, the company planned to use both Snapdragon and in-house Evynos APs in the Galaxy S25 series but now decided to go with only Snapdragon for the entire series. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 for Galaxy, specifically designed for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, is expected to deliver performance as compared to Apple’s A18 AP.
