Samsung struggles against Apple in the smartwatch market during Q2 2024
Last month, Samsung debuted its latest smartwatch lineup, the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra, along with efficient innovation. Unfortunately, Galaxy smartwatch sales during Q2 2024 are below expectations.
Samsung recently integrated Galaxy AI into its Galaxy smartwatches to add an extra layer of advancement for enhancing users’ experiences. The new sales statistics revealed that Samsung is quite far from leading the smartwatch market.
During the second quarter of the year, Samsung only reserved 15% of sales in the smartwatch market. With 15% sales, Samsung ranks second in leading position, but that’s quite below expectations.
On the other side, Samsung’s rival Apple is leading the market with 49% of the share. Undoubtedly, Samsung has to face a tough struggle to lead the market. Apart from these two, other smartwatch brands, including Huawei, Google, and Gamin, are all following Samsung, which are as follows:
- Apple: 50%
- Samsung- 15%
- Garmin: 11%
- Huawei: 7%
- Google: 4%
Apart from smartwatches, the report also revealed the worldwide wearable basic band shipment share during Q2 2024. Samsung ranked fourth with 6% of the shipment share, whereas Xiaomi reserved 40% of the sales share, then Huawei with 23%, and Google earned 10%.
To maintain its legacy and lead the brand, Samsung should go for the new strategies. These statistics suggest that Samsung has to focus on brand awareness and positioning to move upmarket. Currently, brands are exploring eSIM-enabled smartwatches with 4G/5G connectivity and seeking partnerships with telcos.
