Samsung started rolling out the Android 14-based One UI 6.1.1 update. As expected, the update brings dozens of new features, including a Photo Assist shortcut and a few tweaks in Gallery to enhance the experience.

Samsung already released the One UI 6.1.1 update to the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S23 updates. The update introduces new notable and convenient changes to the Gallery application.

Samsung offers a new AI button to the photo viewer, an alarm background shortcut, and additional tools in Gallery Labs with the One UI 6.1.1 update.

Gallery Labs is a hidden menu of secret features in Samsung’s Gallery application; it offers the ability to move the More button to the bottom bar. It prevents inconvenient finger stretches while accessing the wallpaper menu and more in the photo viewer.

With the One UI 6.1.1, moving the More button on the top bar reveals a dedicated AI-powered Photo Assist button, which offers a convenient shortcut to the Generative Edit menu in the built-in photo editor. Users can easily place the More button anywhere based on usage habits. Noticeably, in case you frequently use Generative Edit, you might be better off this way since the More button doesn’t include many features that you may use mostly.

The One UI 6.1.1 wallpaper menu placed under the More button permits you to set photos as an alarm background without switching galleries. This new option appears alongside the set photos as a lock screen home screen wallpaper or both options. You can still change the alarm background from the Clock app as previously.

Apart from this, the update also offers a few new features to Gallery Labs; for instance, you can now enable or disable sticky data and location for photos or start a slideshow with selected photos. Now it permits you to auto-repeat a slideshow of selected items once the playback is completed.

With the One UI 6.1.1 update, you can now remove the Go to Studio button from the bottom hamburger menu of the Gallery homepage and the Remote Gallery feature.
