When the GIF feature within the Smart Select Edge panel was removed, Samsung officially announced that the feature will be making its comeback in early October. Now, the company has triggered some more info regarding the Smart Select and is planning to make it default to a standard area automatically chosen in the upcoming One UI 7 build.

To recall, the iconic GIF feature, which was revamped but failed to implement changes at the time of releasing the One UI 6.1.1 update, was removed from the Smart Select Edge panel due to certain inconveniences, and it’s making a comeback in early October.

Meanwhile, Samsung shared another significant piece of information: Smart Select will become a default option for a standard area, which will be automatically chosen in the upcoming One UI 7 version.

However, the Smart Select functionality is under a gradual development stage when triggering a flexible menu on the basis of the selected area.

Samsung even stated the reason that it’s tough to support a shortcut interface each time, especially copying to generate GIFs when selecting text or images, and thus, the development within the Smart Select is underway to offer a path where the main standard area is automatically selected for the recommended area by default from the next One UI 7.

Moreover, the process of making Smart Select by-default to a main standard area automatically enabled in One UI 7 is undergoing its development phase, where Samsung significantly aims to offer a flexible yet convenient interface while using the Smart Select panel on Galaxy devices.
