Galaxy S25 Ultra May Debut with Snapdragon 8 Elite
Samsung started gearing up for its upcoming flagship series, the Galaxy S25. The ultra variant, the Galaxy S25 Ultra, is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 but with the new branding name ‘Snapdragon 8 Elite.’
On the other side, Qualcomm is also looking forward to launching its latest flagship smartphone processor next month. The coming processor will be its first 3nm chipset.
The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S25’s Qualcomm chipset is originally expected to be named the Snapdragon 8 Elite. This new name is being speculated by a leaked official teaser for the Xiaomi 15, which could be the first phone to be powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite.
Qualcomm introduced its Snapdragon 8 Gen series back in 2021 and was supposed to debut the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. But now it seems that the brand is looking forward to ditching the old series to debut a new one called Snapdragon 8 Elite.
Recently, a leaked teaser of the Xiaomi 15 teaser mentioned the Snapdragon 8 Elite, which suggests Qualcomm decided to introduce a new naming series for its chipset. The brand might be setting up to rebrand its flagship chipsets with Oryon cores under the “Elite” branding umbrella. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4/8 Elite is expected to deliver a significant performance boost with a speed gain of more than 30%, which will make it worth the new branding.
According to benchmark listings, the upcoming Galaxy S25 Ultra comes into existence with two specific variants of the unannounced Qualcomm chip, with peak speeds of 4.47 GHz and 4.19 GHz. However, Samsung has yet to confirm exactly which chipset it will use to power its coming flagship Galaxy S25 Ultra device. It remains to see what happens next.
