Samsung to Negotiate Galaxy S25’s chipset price and XR future at Snapdragon Summit

Qualcomm will host its annual chip-revealing event, Snapdragon Summit, in Maui in the Hawaiian archipelago next week. Samsung President TM Roh will discuss the Galaxy S25 chip and XR at the event.

Qualcomm is all set to debut its brand-new high-end mobile chipset this month. Meanwhile, the Korean tech giant ‘Samsung’ is preparing to source all Galaxy S25 series chips from Qualcomm.

According to the report from Hankyung (via Jukanlosreve), XR is attending the event to discuss what could happen to the development of the Galaxy S25 series chip and XR devices with Qualcomm and Google.

TM Roh dedicatedly joins the event just to discuss the strategy and collaboration with Qualcomm and also negotiate Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip prices for the Galaxy S25 series. Apart from this, it will also consult with Qualcomm’s executives about the future of XR (mixed reality).

However, Samsung and Google revealed their strategy and plans to build a joint XR platform in 2023. Both brands teased the platform several times and confirmed its launch by the end of 2024. TM Roh’s discussions will also focus on enhancing Samsung’s collaboration with Qualcomm. The official is actively looking forward to boarding a flight to Hawaii next week to attend Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit with Qualcomm and Google.

Qualcomm SoC to debut its ever-first chipset, Snapdragon 8 Elite, using TSMC’s 3nm process technology. Therefore, TM Roh’s meeting with Qualcomm’s management, including CEO Cristiano Amon, will be dedicated to supply chip and price negotiations. If the meeting resulted in a good end, then it will be beneficial for the Galaxy S25 series’ cost.
