Galaxy S25 Ultra’s Snapdragon 8 Elite claims 44% power efficiency improvement

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is highly anticipated to be powered by Qualcomm’s newly launched Snapdragon 8 Elite. The chipset is expected to be 44% more power-efficient and has a 27% overall increase in power savings.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite is expected to power the Galaxy S25 Ultra in most regions. The chipset features a prime core with a 4.32GHz clock speed, which makes it the fastest mobile CPU, and six new performance cores at 3.53GHz.

The chipset is claimed to increase 45% in CPU performance. This will translate to faster multi-tasking, app opening, and creative workflows on the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Apart from this, the chipset is expected to boost the battery life of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Qualcomm assures a 44% power efficiency upgrade as compared to its predecessor Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The company also claims that it will increase 27% in power savings.

The chipset is based on a 3nm process, which supports new 5.3GHz LPDDR5x memory. A new feature called instant wake reduces the frequent power cycling of individual cores, upgrading standby time. However, Samsung has yet to confirm whether the entire Galaxy S25 series will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite or only the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite’s impressive power and battery savings characteristics combined with a software upgrade in Android 15-based One UI 7 could make the Galaxy S25 series a new revolutionary in the tech market.

The chipset might be a compelling reason to upgrade to the Galaxy S25 Ultra in 2025, offering impressive power, battery savings, and camera processing enhancements. Previously, it was reported that the Galaxy S25’s rumored Snapdragon 8 Elite could generate more heat and battery drain. It remains to see whether the chipset will boost the battery breath or result in battery drain.
