Android 16 to Add Custom Quick Settings Categories
Google is rolling out yet another beta version for the Android 15 update, and it seems to be planning on introducing Quick Settings tiles into categories in Android 16. Thus, Android users will be able to organize Quick Settings tiles into specific categories.
Yes! It appears like Google is preparing to bring a new capability that will allow users to organize Quick Settings tiles into distinctive categories in Android 16.
Given the folks presented by Android Authority that are concealed within the SystemUI app in the latest Android 15 beta build, it significantly reveals that Google has arranged the Quick Settings tiles into 7 different categories, including connectivity, unknown, accessibility, display, provided by apps, privacy, and utilities.
Hence, Android users will be able to organize their Quick Settings tiles into these categories. This will make it easier for the users to find the right tile. Meanwhile, this overhaul of the Quick Settings panel in Android 16 is currently under process and eventually arranges the tiles in such a manner that forces users to scroll to the end of the Quick panel.
With that, the tile like Night Light is placed under the Display category, while the Accessibility category includes tiles such as color correction, color inversion, hearing devices, and one-handed mode. However, this latest overhaul is basically the part of the latest Android 15 beta release for Pixels; thus, by the time Android 16 arrives next year, Google might perform certain changes in them, though.
While Samsung is yet to launch the next Android 15-based One UI 7 beta, the new Quick Settings panel overhaul is nowhere for Galaxy devices, as the Android 16 version is ultimately far away. Also, it will be interesting to see whether Samsung chooses to keep such changes within its phone’s Quick Settings panel or ditch them to bring its own version.
