Samsung smart TVs’ CryptoCore security software receives esteemed FIPS 140-3 Certification
Samsung’s commitment to offer secure home entertainment to its Galaxy audience is taking a major step towards technology-leading security measures and data protection for the Smart TV ecosystem, as the company’s proprietary cryptography module, Samsung CryptoCore, has now earned a commendable FIPS 140-3 certification.
With the Galaxy Smart Home ecosystem becoming more connected, it becomes a necessity to safeguard users’s personal data. Thus, Samsung has decided to integrate the FIPS 140-3-certified CryptoCore software into Galaxy Smart TVs.
The company has recently announced that the Samsung CryptoCore, Samsung’s encryption module that delivers enhanced data safety and security across its Galaxy devices, has received an esteemed FIPS 140-3 certification from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), which is a major step towards the user’s personal data security to ensure a secure environment against data breaches.
Beginning in 2025, Samsung significantly aims to completely integrate the Samsung CryptoCore into the Tizen OS 9.0 operating system, ensuring a high-level security of the smart TVs. Also, with the CryptoCore integration into Tizen OS, users’s personal information linked to Samsung accounts will be safely encrypted; SmartThings will get protected from external threats; and smart TV’s content will get protected with enhanced copyright.
While Samsung’s smart TVs are already protected with a security platform, Samsung Knox since 2015, the newly acquired FIPS-certified CryptoCore will help Samsung strengthen its shield against hacking and data breaches more further and protect users’s personal information with advanced encryption in order to offer smart TV users a secure, integrated, and reliable environment.
