Is Samsung losing its tag of being world’s top smartphone manufacturer?
It’s surprising! Samsung is struggling for its topmost position of being the world’s leading smartphone manufacturer.
For years Samsung has been at the top, with its advanced innovations and techniques highly appreciated always. However, the recent IDC market reports significantly reveal the decline of Samsung’s market share from 21% to 18% and only lead over Apple with just 0.6%.
In the third and final quarter of 2024, Samsung suffered with a major decline towards its product shipment, where the company has to pay with its position, as it’s the only one among the five largest smartphone makers to get affected by its fall in the market share. Due to which Apple, along with other smartphone companies, especially Xiaomi, seems to be pushing Samsung backwards.
Apple, being the strongest competitor of Samsung, has already overtaken it last year; however, Samsung reverted back immediately. While Samsung expected that its foldables could help increase the company’s market share and make its topmost position stronger, other smartphone Chinese companies like Xiaomi and Huawei are committed towards increasing their rank with their foldables in the market.
In fact, Samsung has to face setbacks regarding its semiconductor chipsets, with only 60% of overall profit. This unwillingly forces the company to either rely on its in-house Exynos chipsets or depend on Qualcomm chips for its Galaxy phones. Also, Apple and Xiaomi are already eyeing to snatch Samsung’s topmost position in the market, and this is what will probably shift Samsung’s focus to introduce a new brand other than Galaxy for its flagship models.
Even the forthcoming Galaxy S25 lineup doesn’t seem to provide a significant increase in market share to Samsung if Apple’s innovation of AI in its iPhone proves to be more helpful and engaging in the near future. Thus, this could drastically affect Samsung’s position in the smartphone area.
