Samsung Patent Teases New Detachable Strap for Smartwatches

Samsung is secretly working on bringing a new enhancement for its Galaxy smartwatches, as its latest patent hints that it is focusing on a detachable strap mechanism.

Recently, a few Samsung patents have come into existence, but all were regarding the foldable smartphones. Now a new patent has revealed a new development that Samsung could be working on.

Samsung’s new patent goes in a surprising direction, as it is describing a new detachable strap mechanism for Galaxy smartwatches. A security fit is one of the essential facts in a smartwatch that consumers make sure of before going for it, especially sports straps, which ensure comfort and accurate sensor readings. An inaccurate fit can affect the smartwatch’s performance.

According to a report from 91mobiles, a new Samsung patent is spotted that shows a potential new detachable system for the straps of Galaxy watches. The key reason behind this step seems to be offering an even easier detaching or attaching experience and fit check.

However, the recently launched Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra already have a quick-release system for their straps, but something is missing that Samsung wants to make things even easier for a frustration-free experience.

The patent mechanism includes three focusing parts; the first part includes “Core,” which in turn is made up of a fixed piece and a piece that moves about the first. The second focusing point is the strap, which can be attached to the core in one piece or separated into two, leading to more flexibility and customization. The third focus point of the mechanism is the “grooves. These allow the link between the strap and the core of the mechanism. It remains to be seen whether this spotted patent will come into existence.
