Galaxy S25 Ultra Might Skip Periscope Camera Sensor

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is once again flexing its decent, flatter, and rounder corners design in newly leaked dummy images.
Samsung is highly anticipated to introduce a rounder corner for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, and now its new dummy images reveal the design more closely. In the leaked images, the device appears in silver and black color hues.
It seems that the forthcoming Galaxy S25 Ultra will bring Samsung’s signature design, the biggest change being the slightly rounded corners, giving it a boxy look. The device is expected to feature a flatter design with rounder corners. The newly leaked high-quality images of dummy units have showcased the design change. The most interesting aspect, however, is related to the photographic sector. On the one hand, there are aesthetic changes in the camera rings, and on the other hand, the absence of the periscope telephoto module.

If this claim is confirmed—though there are valid reasons to be skeptical—it might suggest that Samsung plans to replace its periscope telephoto lens with the recently introduced ALoP (All Lenses on Prism) module. However, questions surround the optical zoom capability of these sensors, casting doubt on the likelihood of such a shift. The ALoP module currently offers a 3x optical zoom, whereas the telephoto lenses in the last two generations of Samsung Galaxy devices deliver 10x and 5x optical zoom. Such a move would represent a surprising downgrade, bordering on paradoxical. This stands in stark contrast to recent rumors hinting at significant performance upgrades.
According to leaked images, the device could feature a 6.86-inch display, which is a minor increment as compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy S24 Ultra. The image showcases the same three buttons, including two volume buttons and one multi-functional button, placed on the right side of the frame. Samsung uses titanium material for designing the frame to make the device more lightweight and durable.
The upcoming Galaxy S25 Ultra’s rear camera module features four image sensors with a circular design, an LED flash between the two smaller sensors, a ToF lens, and a circular texture design similar to the Fold 6.
The company will debut the Galaxy S25 series on 22 January at the Galaxy Unpacked event powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite.
