Samsung Reviving Curved Display Smartphones?

Spread the love

Samsung was one of the top OEMs that has adapted the curved display technology in its flagship devices. More specifically, it has brought the first curved display device commercially in Galaxy S series devices; the Galaxy S6 edgewas one of the popular devices in this segment. Since then the company has brought several more devices in the Note and S series, but for some reason the Korean giant has replaced the curved display and brought a flat display for Galaxy S24 Ultra devices.

Is Samsung bringing back the curved display smartphones?

Fortunately, now the curved display fans may soon get new devices on this technology in the coming years. The company has recently patented new curved display technology, which will provide more ruggedness and improve design for more durability.

According to the report, Samsung has filed the curved display design patent back in June 2024. Inn tespose to the filed patent the US patent and trademark office has published official documents that details about the curved display design.

In detail, the new patent designs suggest that there are two sealing layer designs adopted to prevent spills from the sealing liquid and improve the durability and assembly quality for the future Galaxy S flagships.

Meanwhile, the component that blocks the liquid is reengineered to fit into grooves in the phone’s frame and align with the display’s curve to achieve a more sleek design.

As the company has just patented the design, it is not fully confirmed that it will be adopted in the development. But with this step, it is sure that the Korean giant will bring the curved display smartphones in the future.

As per the rumors, the Galaxy S25 series devices are almost confirmed to be available with flat displays; it means we may not see new patented technology phones in the market from Samsung for at least two years.
