Google frequently releases the latest features and enhancements for its smart driving companion, Android Auto, that significantly allow users to seamlessly connect their smartphones with their car’s built-in system to offer an effortless experience.

Android Auto consists of different categories as of now: media (audio), messaging, navigation, point of interest (POI), and Internet of Things (IoT). Now, Google seems to be working on implementing the weather aspect in the service.

According to the recent reports, it has been spotted that Google appears to be working on bringing new app categories to Android Auto, teasing the inclusion of a weather category, which could soon be available in a limited beta testing phase for the developers. However, Google has not clarified exactly what aspects will be included in the new Weather category.

Meanwhile, as expected, the new Weather category could help Android Auto users to see relevant weather information regarding the user’s current location along their specified route. Simultaneously, the weather apps will be required to follow certain particular guidelines for approval.

Currently, the official Weather category of Android Auto is running in its beta testing phase, while Google seems to be distributing more widely to more users in the coming future. Interestingly, a weather app, the Weather and Radar, has already been available since last year, which is currently available to download; however, if users need more functions, they indeed require waiting for the implementation of more options in the weather category.
