Samsung is almost a year late in commencing the latest One UI iteration when compared to its usual release schedule. While the new Android 15-based One UI 7 version is currently available for beta testing for the Galaxy S24 series owners, the company has to apparently stretch the stable update for the next year.
As already been covered, Samsung is preparing itself to bring the new Galaxy S25 series to the podium on 22nd January, 2025, via the Galaxy Unpacked event with the One UI 7 version on board; the stable rollout for other eligible smartphones is tied for February next year.
Simultaneously, Samsung’s software update significantly changed in 2022, and eventually for a good sake. The company decided to offer 4 Major OS and 5 security updates to its Galaxy models (where the Galaxy S24 series and other new flagships are tied to receive 7 major OS and security updates), while also extending the update policy for other selected devices belonging to the mid-tier. This is clearly focused on offering more improved system functionality, performance, and security.
Beginning from the Galaxy S21 series, Samsung announced to guarantee 4 major OS updates for the mid tier models and thus, the Android 15-based One UI 7 update category certainly includes various eligible devices such as the Galaxy S series (excluding S24 and newer flagships), Z series, Tablets, A series, M series and F series, respectively. The key highlight is that the newer Galaxy A, M and F series devices are bound to get six years of OS and security updates.
