Samsung Considers Outsourcing Galaxy S25 Memory

Samsung is close to launching the next-generation Galaxy S25 series, which is expected to be the first flagship Galaxy series to use RAM from a different brand.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 will be launched at the Galaxy Unpacked event on 22 January in San Jose. The entire series will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite worldwide and is supposed to run Android 15-based One UI 7. However, the series was recently tested running One UI 7.1 on the test server.

A well-reliable tipster, Junkanlosreve, shared a text post on X, claiming that Micron has reportedly become the first Samsung Galaxy S25 mobile DRAM supply vendor. According to the report, most of the Galaxy S25 units will use Micron’s DRAM chipset, which means that Samsung Semiconductor will be the secondary memory chip supplier.

Micron for the last ten years has been a secondary memory chip supplier for Samsung, and if the report comes true then it will be the first time in history that it will be the primary supplier of the DRAM chipset to Galaxy devices.

A few reports also claim that Samsung needs to urgently upgrade its memory chip design as it is falling behind to stand strong against its rivals. However, there’s no official confirmation regarding this report yet, so it remains to see whether this report will come into existence.
