Telegram first update of 2025: Adds new collectible gifts, Message Search Filters and more

Spread the love

We have already entered into a new year, and Telegram is here with its first interesting update of 2025, which is, of course, packed with several new features.

To begin with, Telegram brings collectable gifts that can be transferred or re-sent to other users, the ability to send reactions to in-chat events, filters for message search, and an in-app QR code scanner.

As detailed in the official blog post, the platform now introduces collectible gifts that acquire special attributes and can be easily transferred to other users or auctioned on NFT marketplaces. In simple words, each collectible gift is a unique piece of art that can be re-sent to the other users. Alternatively, these gifts also contain a random set of secondary traits like a background color, icon, and number.

Next up, when joining a Telegram group, starting a video chat, or someone sends you a gift, users receive a service message that displays in the conversations. Now, you can react to these messages to say thanks or to congratulate someone in just a few taps.

The new Message Search filters have also been added that significantly allow users to quickly find messages from any of their chats, with the ability to specifically choose to see only the group chats, private chats or particular channels. Telegram further added an in-app QR code scanner that automatically recognizes QR codes by default via the phone’s camera app and opens up the links without having to switch between apps.

Lastly, Telegram also adds some minor upgrades to the platform, including custom Emojis in the Folder names and additional verification from third-party sources. With the new update, Telegram aims to reach more profitable means, due to which it has already started sustainable monetization features, Premium subscriptions, and privacy-conscious ads.
