Android 16 Could Bring a Major Revamp to Quick Settings

Google’s next OS iteration, the Android 16 beta 1, is currently available for select Pixels; however, the latest version doesn’t uncover any major features or changes, while this is due to the fact that the company is planning for a total revamp of the notifications and Quick Settings under the curtains, thanks to the recent reports.

Another major Quick Settings tweak seems to be arriving with Android 16, as the recent reports presented by Android Authority already claim so.

The team has spotted that Google appears to be working on offering a major overhaul to the Quick Settings with Android 16, which could eventually change exactly how the Internet and Bluetooth tiles behave, filling up the entire Quick Settings area rather than being compressed in the form of another pop-up.

Google is seemingly planning to return to the Android Lollipop times when tapping on the Bluetooth or Wi-Fi tile expands it within the Quick panel itself that shows the details of nearby Bluetooth devices and Wi-Fi networks, while in the current situation (with Android 15), tapping both the tiles brings a new pop-up that consists of all the relevant details, though.

Alternatively, it’s unlikely that Google may roll out the major redesign to the Android’s Quick Settings panel with Android 16, as the developments are currently in their early stages, while a lot can change in the future, as there is still a lot of work left for the next Android OS version.
