Samsung is among a few smartphone manufacturers that deliver software updates to its devices on time. With a best-in-class update policy, Samsung is moving towards a significant leap by refreshing its newest Galaxy A-series smartphones, Galaxy A36 and Galaxy A56, with an all-new Android software update policy: 6+6!

Substantially, over the years, Samsung has constantly focused on enhancing OS updates and keeps on upgrading its software update policy in order to make its Galaxy ecosystem more secure. However, Galaxy A-series devices are bound to get 3 major OS updates with 4 years of security patches before 2021.

This software update policy changed apparently when Samsung introduced the flagship S-series models, the S21. By then, the Galaxy A lineup was also rewarded with 4 major OS updates and 5 years of security updates.

Samsung Galaxy A56 & A36 to Get 6 Years of Software Support

Now, it appears like Samsung is looking towards refreshing the software update policy of Galaxy A56 and Galaxy A36 units, which have been announced recently. Both the devices have the One UI 7 version that runs Android 15 on top, out of the box. Meanwhile, Samsung listed that both the devices will receive 6 major OS and 6 security patch updates, ultimately. It means these phone updated to Android 21 (One UI 13).

In case you missed it! Samsung previously announced that its newer flagships will be eligible to receive a huge 7 years of updates (as per new update policy norms); even its current Galaxy S25 series is certainly capable of getting a maximum of up to 8 years of software updates due to the inclusion of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.

Now that Samsung promises 6 major OS and 6 security updates to the new Galaxy A56 and A36, who knows if from now on, all the newer Galaxy A-series devices will be bound to receive the same software update policy treatment as these in the future?
