Android 16’s Early Release Might Push One UI 8 to Launch Sooner

Samsung is now set to expand Android 15 to its older Galaxy devices; meanwhile, Google confirms it is on track to release Android 16 in June.
The Korean tech giant recently officially announced that it will expand the Android 15-based One UI 7 beta for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 & Galaxy Z Flip, Galaxy S23 series, and Galaxy Tab S10 series and will release the stable version next month (April).
Samsung is still working on releasing the Android 15 version, whereas on the other side, Google is almost ready for the Android 16 release in June. According to the report from Android Police, Google’s President of the Android Ecosystem, Sameer Samat, opened up about Android 16’s release date: “So far, so good. I’ve never had a release where at this point the bug count was where I wanted it to be, but the team is working really hard, and we’re excited about getting it there.”
Recently, it was reported that Samsung is planning to skip the One UI 7.1 & One UI 7.1.1 iteration and will jump on One UI 8 directly after One UI 7. If this report comes true, then it will be significant for the company to manage the timeline for One UI 8 based on Android 16.
Google is on track to release Android 16; this could push Samsung to roll out One UI 8 sooner than the previous UI versions. However, it will be interesting to see how early the company will release One UI 8 or will take enough time, similar to the current One UI 7 version.
