
Verizon-locked Samsung Galaxy S25 users can now text any US phone number outside of cellular coverage, as the carrier giant launches satellite texting for selected Android smartphones.
Google Pixel 9 Verizon introduces satellite messaging for particular Android devices including Galaxy S25 and Pixel 9, this new service will enable users to text without requiring cellular coverage, with a rollout over the next two weeks.
Carrier giant Verizon has been collaborating with Skylo on a dedicated satellite connectivity network, and it has priorities testing of satellite data and video capabilities, discriminating it from T-Mobile’s approach by potentially offering the service for free to all subscribers and not just premium holders.
Now finally Verizon officially announced the rollout of regular satellite texting capabilities for particular Android devices on its network, allowing Samsung Galaxy S25 and series users users to send text messages via satellite. It will be convenient, especially in a few particular emergency scenarios where there’s no cellular coverage and you need to send a text to someone urgently.
Noticeably, the service could take up to two weeks to deliver seamless functionality to arrive for. It’s anticipated that all Verizon customers will benefit from the satellite connectivity feature for free. On the comparison side, T-Mobile’s implementation is currently in beta and free only until July and then it will only be free for Go5G plan subscribers. However, it remains to see whether Verizon also adopt the same strategy.
