No Seamless Updates for Galaxy A26: Here’s What That Means

Samsung recently launched its affordable smartphone, the Galaxy A26, with six Android OS upgrades and six years of security updates, but you can’t install them seamlessly.

The newly launched Galaxy A26 is not compatible with seamless updates, which are also known as A/B updates, allowing smartphones to install firmware updates in the background without interrupting your experience.

Last year, Samsung launched the Galaxy A55 5G, which was the first smartphone to support seamless updates, and later the support expanded to the Galaxy S25 series. Previously, it was expected that the company would continue the seamless update support with all its latest smartphones, but it’s not the actual case.

Meanwhile, a report from Galaxy Club revealed that the recently launched Galaxy A36 and Galaxy A56 support seamless updates, whereas the Galaxy A26, which was launched alongside these devices, uses the old update method.

Recently, the Galaxy A26 received the April 2025 security patch as its first software update, which doesn’t bring any major or notable upgrades, but it clarifies that the smartphone is not compatible with seamless update support, since the patch was not installed seamlessly.

Samsung has already made the Galaxy A26, Galaxy A36, and Galaxy A56 smartphones available globally.
