One UI 8 on Galaxy S25 Ultra: Lack of innovation

Galaxy S24 has yet to receive the stable One UI 7 update globally, meanwhile, one of our colleagues has already installed the next major Android 16-based One UI 8 on Galaxy S25 Ultra.
Samsung is gradually rolling out the One UI 7 for its smartphones in different phases in several regions. To date, the company has made the stable update available in Korea and Germany, and is expected to expand widely soon. Now, a new report is revealing the first sneak peek at the One UI 8.
A reliable colleague, SamMobile, tried One UI 8 based on Android 16 on the Galaxy S25 Ultra. According to the report, the next major update is one of the most boring One UI iterations ever, since it’s not bringing any exclusively notable upgrade to enhance the user experience.

Recently, the One UI 8 has already appeared on the Galaxy Z Flip 6, which was a bit interesting as it brings several Galaxy S25 features that the company didn’t include in One UI 7. On the Galaxy S25 Ultra, the coming update will bring a new Quick Share version, which includes a new Receive tab that allows users to make their phone discoverable for file transfer from other devices for as long as needed.
One UI 8 will bring encircled buttons in the Gallery app’s pop-up menu and multiple new wallpaper colors. In the current One UI version, when you connect to a pair of Galaxy Buds through the Bluetooth menu, the Galaxy Wearable app opens automatically even though it’s not needed for pairing. Now, with the latest version, it appears to be fixed.
Reportedly, the Now Bar live notifications don’t work seamlessly on the Galaxy S25 Ultra, however, it’s not a major issue, as it will be fixed with the stable version. Currently, the One UI 8 is so buggy on the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which is quite normal since it’s too early to test the latest firmware, but the final version will be bug-free.
