Samsung to bring Now Bar and Now Brief on Galaxy Watches with One UI 8 watch

Samsung Galaxy watch users, get ready to experience the ‘Now Bar’ and ‘Now Brief’ features directly from your wrist with the latest One UI 8 Watch update.

Recently, it was reported that Samsung is looking forward to taking a long jump from One UI 6 Watch to directly on One UI 8 Watch, which means that it will skip One UI 6.5 Watch and One UI 7 Watch updates. Reportedly, there’s no major reason behind this strategy as the company is just making this unusual change to match the One UI versioning with smartphones.

Now, a new report from one of our reliable colleagues, Android Authority, revealed that Samsung will bring One UI 7’s Now Bar feature to Galaxy Watches with the next major OS update, One UI 8 Watch.

Reportedly, the spotted strings in the APK, Samsung is tailoring the feature for the smartwatch interface, coupled with multiple customisation options. According to the strings, users will get the option to choose between a minimal visual or a more comprehensive display that will display both the Now Bar icon and text when the screen is active.

The update will introduce gesture-based actions that let you double-pinch to open the Now Bar on your Galaxy Watches and also enable more actions when the bar has no current content. The Now Bar feature is expected to show multiple details on Galaxy watches, which are as follows –

  • Contextual Suggestions
  • Maps
  • Media Controls
  • Now Brief
  • Tips on how to use the Now Bar
  • Sports on Google for live sports scores

The company could add more options, such as health metrics and exercise updates. Although currently this report is based on strings, it remains to be seen exactly how the Now Bar will work on Galaxy watches.
