Android Auto Could Soon Let Users Switch Between Audio and Video Modes

Google recently showed off Android Auto’s light theme via the I/O event conducted a few days ago, which is going to arrive soon on the platform. Meanwhile, not only this, the company also managed to reveal that the support for video apps could soon make it to Android Auto.

Well, the I/O event showcased a few interesting functionalities that will be making their way to the Android Auto platform in the future, with one being the support for video apps, as a report says.

Basically, Google has revealed that in order to enhance the overall driving experience, the video apps supported will be integrated on Android Auto soon, while this functionality already exists in Android Automotive. However, this could arrive with certain limitations, like it might not be enabled by default.

More specifically, Android Automotive already supports video apps, but it only works when the vehicle is parked. At the same time, Google says that from now on, Automotive users can easily switch between video mode and audio-only mode while driving.

Since Android Auto doesn’t support video apps, at least for now, Google appears to be planning to implement this similar functionality from Android Automotive to Android Auto (with Android 16 and selective cars), allowing users to switch between audio and video modes seamlessly.

Well, Google has stored a lot of new functionalities in its bank, including the revamped multimedia experience, integrating the climate controls, and now the video apps support; it will be interesting to see how Google could implement these features on Android Auto.
