Samsung Auto DeX Isn’t What You Think — It’s Not a Real Android Auto Alternative

Samsung already has an Android Auto alternative, Samsung Auto; however, the newly claimed Samsung Auto DeX might be another alternative, but there’s a catch.

Basically, just recently, a previous report showcased the first-ever glimpse of Samsung’s Auto DeX functionality, claiming it to be an Android Auto alternative for the Galaxy audience. Also, the feature could support over 8,500 cars and 120+ car brands, while also asserting that it can easily be accessible even when the car doesn’t support it. Now, the Auto DeX sounds just like a rumor and not the real functionality, according to Android Authority.

In short, Samsung Auto DeX is just an unofficial workaround that enables Samsung Auto to function on car head units that don’t have support outside China.

Elaborating on the entire situation, first up, users need to know about what Samsung Auto is, which will further lay out a description that will make users understand what Samsung Auto DeX is!

Samsung Auto already exists, not Auto DeX, where Samsung Auto is a real Android Auto alternative; however, the functionality remains exclusive to China because the region has restrictions over Google Play Services. While Samsung doesn’t seem to be planning to expand Samsung Auto to the global markets, the Auto DeX is something that is an unofficial way to access Samsung Auto outside China (via a user, FrostyAd7433, on Reddit).

Samsung Auto DeX

The redditor suggested a trick: Samsung Auto can be accessed outside China; users will be required to have a compatible car head unit and install the Samsung Auto APK and the Baidu CarLife+ plugin (available only in the Chinese Samsung App Store). Thus, it’s a workaround that enables Samsung Auto to run outside China on unsupported car head units via desktop mode casting.

At the same time, the Reddit user also shared screenshots of the UI a while ago, while the user processed Samsung Auto on Ford SYNC 3’s head unit. Well, it looks like Samsung Auto DeX is just a concept that apparently goes missing but is only available via a single code string.
