Mushoku Tensei Season 3 Cour 2 is officially happening. The anime’s staff announced the second half of the season yesterday, September 27, right after Episode 14 closed out the first cour, and confirmed it will air sometime in 2027.

The announcement came with a teaser video and a newly drawn end card for the first cour, along with a handwritten message asking fans to look forward to what’s next.

What the Teaser Shows

The cour 2 teaser points squarely at the Dragon God Orsted, the powerful figure fans have been waiting to see Rudeus confront. Anime Corner’s report on the reveal described the footage as a tease of that battle, though the teaser stops well short of showing much actual story.

Here’s what remains unconfirmed. Toho Animation hasn’t announced an exact premiere date or a window narrower than 2027, and the episode count for cour 2 is still unofficial. Some fan trackers say 13 episodes, which would bring Season 3 to 27 in total, but treat that as a rumor until the staff says otherwise.

Where Season 3 Stands Now

Season 3 premiered July 5 on Tokyo MX and BS11, with Crunchyroll streaming it worldwide alongside an English dub. The season adapts the Eris Training Arc, which begins in the 13th volume of Rifujin na Magonote’s light novels, and the Chaos Breaker arc kicked off with Episode 8 on August 16.

Yuiko Ohara performs the opening theme, “Ketsui no Uta” (Song of Resolve), while Mika Nakashima performs the ending theme, “Inori, Owareba” (If the Prayers Are Over). Cour 1 ended on a grim note, setting up the stakes for the return.

Staff and Production

Nothing about the production team has changed for cour 2 so far. Ryosuke Shibuya, who directed the back half of Season 2, is directing the season at Studio Bind. Sanae Shimada returns as a character designer alongside newcomer Ryota Furukawa, and Yoshiaki Fujisawa composes the music.

The split-cour structure isn’t new for the franchise. Season 1 aired across 2021 with a delayed second half, and Season 2 ran from July 2023 to July 2024 in two parts. If the pattern holds, expect a long gap between cours rather than a quick return.
