WhatsApp adds a visual indicator for chats end-to-end encrypted

WhatsApp is one of those messenger applications that grabbed several new updates last year. With these updates, the application has received some improvements and features. All the credit goes to the developer team, which has aggressively provided some innovation for enhancing the user experience.

Moving forward with the development, WhatsApp has released a new beta update for its users, which comes with version number 2.24.3.17. With this update, the company has added the caption as “end-to-end encrypted” at the top of the chats. The new change also contains a padlock icon.

The new change only aims to raise awareness among users that their chats are end-to-end encrypted, meaning no one can interfere with your privacy. However, this was previously applied to WhatsApp chats, and this is just a UI representation.

The visual indicator for encrypted chats is currently in the testing phase. If you want to use this feature on your device now, then you have to join the beta program of WhatsApp. To do that, you need to go to the Google Play Store, search for WhatsApp, go to the beta tester section, and tap on the join button. Once you successfully register for the update, you will get a new update within a minute.

However, the feature is not available for all users, but it is expected that the company will expand the feature with the coming stable update. As far as the availability of the stable update, based on past update timelines, the company may provide new software updates in the next couple of weeks.
