Google Tensor G4 Is Based On The Exynos 2400: As Tipster Claims
Pixel smartphones are powered by Tensor chipsets from Google, and now a new tablet is based on the older Exynos SoC launches from Samsung. The unique 9-core CPU cluster of the Tensor G3 was based on the Exynos 2300 of Samsung, which was not released. So it’s not a big deal to assume that the forthcoming Tensor G4 will have a connection with Exynos 2400.
The Exynos 2400 of Samsung has a 10-core CPU cluster, but reports from Geekbench 5 have unveiled that the Tensor G4 is an 8-core CPU part, so by the prospect of the overall configuration, it appears that as per the comparison of the G3, it has one less core.
A tipster, @OreXda on X, formerly Twitter, has shared a post stating about the CPU and GPU of the Tensor G4 based on Exynos 2400, according to which it will have:

However, the tipster failed to notice the differences between each silicon, even though they believed that the forthcoming SoC designed for the next generation Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro is based on the Exynos 2400. Even the GPUs of the Tensor G4 and Exynos 2400 are different in all ways, with the latter featuring an Xclipse 940 graphics processor that is based on AMD’s RDNA3 architecture, while the Tensor is shown to house ARM’s Immortals G715, which stays unchanged from the Tensor G3.
But the tipster realized the error of his claims and responded on the thread that the Tensor G4 may be a semi-custom SoC, along with Google taking advantage of ARM’s existing CPU as well as GPU designs.
At the end of the discussion, it appears that until Google switches its foundry partner itself to TSMC, which is not slated to happen until the arrival of the Tensor G5 in 2025, it should not be expected that the upcoming Pixel 9 or Pixel 9 Pro will pose any meaningful threat to the competition in terms of raw performance.
