One UI 6.1 Have Bugs and Issues: Should You Update?

Published

on

New updates are usually expected to refine older devices with new improvements, features, and changes, but unfortunately, Samsung’s latest One UI 6.1 turned wrong for the Galaxy S23 device.

Samsung has already rolled out the Android 14-based One UI 6.1 update for the Galaxy S23 devices, but the owners of the devices after installing this update started claiming and reporting about the inconveniences they are going through, such as unresponsive touch screen issues, fingerprint sensors not working, and many more.

Here we are discussing several issues that occur after installing One UI 6.1 on the Galaxy S23 smartphones

Unresponsive Touchscreens

After installing the One UI 6.1 update, Galaxy S23 users started reporting on Reddit and Samsung’s community forums that a kind of inconvenience was occurring: an unresponsive touch screen. One Galaxy S23 Ultra owner claimed that his screen is unresponsive to finger touch and only works while using the S-Pen. Some of the users claimed that sometimes the screen stopped taking touch on some particular areas of the display. A user also commented, “After hitting the 6.1 update, I’m stuck with the same problem: the touch screen is totally unresponsive. It’s downright disheartening. I can’t believe a brand would drop an update this messed up.”

Broken fingerprint sensors

Apart from the touchscreen issue, other users on the same platform indicate that One UI 6.1 is also breaking the fingerprint sensor for the Galaxy S23. Upon examining the other two r/GalaxyS23 and r/GalaxyS23Ultra posts on Reddit, it appears that the fingerprint sensor is not entirely malfunctioning.

Regarding this issue, one user elaborates on the inconvenience. “After updating to One UI 6.1 yesterday, my fingerprint sensor randomly doesn’t register my input when trying to unlock the phone. There is no error whatsoever; the fingerprint icon animation re-appears once I touch the screen, and I have to touch that part again to get the phone unlocked.”

Slow Charging

One UI 6.1 update is appearing as a bundle of troubles since, after installing this update on the Galaxy S23 devices, owners are facing several issues. Some of them have reported that their Galaxy S23 maxes out around 15W for wired charging speeds even while using a 25W adapter. We have already reported about One UI 6.1 causing charging issues on Galaxy S23 devices. Although some users are facing this issue, while others didn’t notice any change in their charging speed, it still popped up across Reddit and Samsung’s forums.

Phone Overheating

Phone overheating issues are quite common after upgrading the device with a major update. Now, Galaxy S23 owners are also reporting the same issue: after installing One UI 6.1, their phones run hotter than usual. This one is a bit harder to pin down since one user claims on Reddit that One UI 6.1 made their Galaxy S23 get “quite warm to touch even when it’s idle and connected to WiFi.”

Here’s the question: If One UI 6.1 brings the issues mentioned above, then should One UI 6.1 be downloaded?

A simple or one-word answer to this question is hard to say since we can’t neglect the fact One UI 6.1 brought several issues, but the fact is, you could download the update and be perfectly fine. Also, this update offers you bundles of Galaxy AI features to enhance your experience at your convenience.
