Samsung Galaxy users, stay calm in case your smartphone auto-restarts on its own after sitting unused for a few days, since it is a new update.
Android is releasing a new security feature via the latest Google Play service update with the dedicated version 25.14 that automatically restarts or auto-reboots devices that have been “locked for 3 consecutive days.”
The new restart feature will boost security on Android devices, including Samsung’s Galaxy devices. This new upgrade aims to enhance the security of the smartphone to reduce the chances of data theft in particular scenarios.
Noticeably, the feature is only extended to smartphones and tablets, whereas the other device categories, such as Auto PC (Play Games Windows app), TV, and Wear, are not compatible with this. An auto-reboot occurs if you haven’t used your phone or tablet for over 72 hours.
Once rebooted or restarted, the device returns it to a Before First Unlock (BFU) state where data is encrypted and protected, it from unauthorized access as you have yet to enter your passcode, with biometric logins not yet enabled.
The BFU keeps the Galaxy device’s data more encrypted compared to the After First Unlock (AFU) state. This feature will protect the devices and personal data from unauthorized access if your device is lost or stolen, ensuring your data stays secure.
