Galaxy Z Fold 4, Flip 4, and S22 get One UI 5.1 on US carriers

Samsung has begun rolling out the latest version of its One UI software, version 5.1, to carrier-locked Galaxy Z Fold 4, Flip 4, and Galaxy S22 devices in the United States. It has already rolled out for Unlocked units of these smartphones.

One UI 5.1 for Galaxy Z Fold 4/Flip4 and Galaxy S22 in the US

The One UI 5.1 update is already available for Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 on select carrier networks. Specifically, users on Verizon, Comcast and Xfinity Mobiles can now upgrade their devices to the latest version of Samsung’s software with firmware versions F936USQU1CWAC and F721USQU1CWAC, respectively.

In addition, Galaxy S22 users are also receiving the One UI 5.1 update on select carrier networks in the US. While users on the Comcast network are now getting the update with firmware version S90*USQU2CWAI, Verizon, T-Mobile, and MetroPCS users have already received it last week.

The One UI 5.1 skin update brings several new features and improvements to Galaxy Z Fold 4, Flip 4, and S22 devices. Some of the most notable features of this update include a new multi-tasking experience, GIF Remaster, and the ability to extract text from a video. Additionally, users can expect to see new battery and weather widgets, as well as enhancements to Samsung’s Bixby Text Call feature. The update also includes a host of other improvements, such as improved app performance and stability, enhanced privacy settings, and a refreshed design.

More powerful search
You can now search your Gallery for more than one person or subject at the same time. You can even search for people without tagging their names just by tapping their faces.

Enhanced image remastering
Remastering does more to make your pictures look great by removing shadows and reflections. You can also remaster GIFs for better resolution and clarity. Preview has also been improved to make it easier to compare the original picture with the remaster.

Create a shared family album
It’s easier than ever to share pictures with your family. Gallery will recommend pictures to add to your shared family album by recognizing the faces of your family members. You get 5 GB of storage for each family member (up to 6 people).

Revamped info display
When you swipe up while viewing a picture or video in your Gallery, you can see when and where the picture was taken, which device took the picture, where the picture is stored, and more. Now with a simpler layout.

Multitasking

Easily minimize or switch to full screen
You can now minimize or maximize an app window without going to the options menu. Just drag one of the corners.

Access your most used apps in split screen
When you start a split-screen view, the apps you use most often will be shown below your recently used apps to help you find the apps you need faster.

Improved multitasking in DeX
In split-screen view, you can now drag the divider in the center of the screen to resize both windows. You can also snap a window to one of the corners to make it fill a quarter of the screen.

Modes and Routines

Change wallpapers based on your mode
Set a different wallpaper based on your current activity. Choose one wallpaper for work, one for exercising, and more.

More actions for routines
New actions let you control Quick Share and Touch sensitivity, change your ringtone, and change your font style.

Weather

Quick access to useful information
Check severe weather alerts, daily weather summaries, and sunrise/sunset times at the top of the Weather app. The temperature graph now uses colors to show how the temperature changes throughout the day.

Hourly precipitation graph
An hourly graph now shows how much precipitation has fallen at different times of the day.

Summary on Weather widget
A brief summary of the current weather conditions now appears on the weather widget to let you know if it’s sunny, cloudy, raining, or snowing.

Samsung Internet

Continue browsing on another device
If you’re browsing the web on one Galaxy phone or tablet and later open the Internet app on another Galaxy device signed in to the same Samsung account, a button will appear that lets you open the last webpage you were viewing on the other device.

Improved search
Your searches now include the names of bookmark folders and tab groups. Improved search logic lets you find what you’re looking for even if something isn’t spelled correctly.

Additional changes

Let Bixby take your calls
Use Bixby text call to answer calls automatically and find out why the person is calling. You’ll see what the caller says in a text chat, and you can tap or type responses that will be read aloud to the caller. Bixby text call is only available in English and Korean.

Check the battery level of your devices
The new Battery widget lets you check the battery level of your devices, right from the Home screen. You can see how much battery is left on your phone, Galaxy Buds, Galaxy Watch, S Pen, and other supported devices.

Use up to 3 emojis in AR Emoji Camera
Take fun pictures and videos with your friends in Mask mode. You can assign a different emoji to each person’s face.

Settings suggestions
While signed in to your Samsung account, suggestions will appear at the top of the Settings screen to help you share, connect, and enhance your experience across your Galaxy devices.

Spotify suggestions
The Smart suggestions widget now recommends Spotify tracks and playlists based on your current activity. Get the perfect tunes for driving, exercising, and more. To get suggestions, you need to sign in to a Spotify account in the latest version of the Spotify app.

Choose where to save screenshots and screen recordings
You can now change the folder where screenshots and screen recordings are saved.

Galaxy S23 FE get Major One UI 6.1 update with Galaxy AI Features in Europe

Samsung’s most-awaited One UI 6.1 update is finally available for several devices. The company has already rolled out the update to all pre-decided devices that were selected to get the update in the first phase. The Galaxy S23 FE is also one of the devices that has already received the update in the US, now it has started receiving the update in Europe.

Notably, the Galaxy S23 FE grabbed the One UI 6.1 update in Europe; it carries the firmware version number S711BXXU2CXCF. It is still using the same security patch, which is the March 2024 security patch. The update is coming in a software package of nearly 3GB. 

According to the changelog, the update has brought several Galaxy AI features and several editing tools that will allow you to create more epic images. The update will also bring several customization options, which will be available under the different UI elements, including widgets, wallpaper, alarm alerts, stickers, calendars, and many more. Ultimately, the update has introduced a completely new experience for using Galaxy devices.

If you want to take advantage of all the new features, then you should update your Galaxy devices to One UI 6.1. If you are using the Galaxy S23 FE in Europe, the One UI 6.1 update is now live in your region. To install the latest update on your device, you just need to go to the software update menu through the system settings.

The Galaxy S23 FE was launched last year; it came with Android 13 One UI 5.1. Later, it grabbed one major update in the form of Android 14. Samsung rolls out One UI 6.1 to the Galaxy Tab S9 devices in Europe

Samsung has rolled out the One UI 6.1 update to all the first-wave contenders, including the Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5Galaxy S23, and Galaxy S23 FE. Now it has started rolling out the update for the latest flagship tablets, i.e., the Galaxy Tab S9 series devices. 

Notably, the One UI 6.1 update is spotted on the 5G variants of the Galaxy Tab S9, Galaxy Tab S9+, and Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra, which are carrying the firmware version numbers X716BXXU2BXC9, X816BXXU2BXC9, and X916BXXU2BXC9, respectively. The update is coming in a software package of 3GB. It is expected that the company will expand the update to the Wi-Fi variants in the next few hours.

The latest update has brought several new features and improvements for the devices. According to the official changelog, the latest update has brought several Galaxy AI features as expected, including live call translation, call assist, note assist, chat assist, and many more. Along with the AI feature, the update has also brought new customization features, including new editing features, more widgets for your lock screen, alarm alerts for your home screen, and many more. 

Apart from the new One UI update, it has also brought the March 2024 security patch update, which has brought some new security-related enhancements that will provide more security for your devices.

Verizon rolls out March 2024 update for Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro in the USA

Samsung has recently rolled out the March 2024 security patch update for the Galaxy Watch 5 series devices. The latest update is not only limited to bringing security enhancements; it will also provide an update for enhancing the new ability to connect the Galaxy Watch with Samsung TV.

The latest update for the Galaxy Watch 5 (40mm) and Galaxy Watch 5 (44mm) is coming with the firmware version numbers R905USQU1BXB7 and R915USQU1BXB7, respectively. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro is getting an update with the firmware version number R925USQU1BXB7.

The update is now available for the locked version of the Galaxy Watch 5, which is bound to the Verizon network. It is expected that the company will soon expand the update to more carriers. The same update has already been rolled out in several countries, including South Korea. Along with the update, it has already been rolled out for the unlocked versions as well.

According to the changelog, the latest update for the Galaxy Watch 5 will provide the ability to show Samsung Health data on the SmartTV directly via smartwatch. With this ability, users can do exercise and watch data on the big screen at the same time. It is worth noticing that this feature is only comparable to the Samsung SmartTV, which was released in 2024, and to connect it, you have to set up the same Samsung account on both devices.
