Samsung brings One UI 5.1 to carrier-locked Galaxy Note 20 in the USA

Samsung kept up with the times and started rolling out the incredibly modern One UI 5.1, which debuted with smartphones in the Galaxy S23 range, to an increasing number of smartphones; as of right now, it’s only available on the Samsung Galaxy Note 20, the final member of the Galaxy Note range to still receive support.

Along with the latest One UI, which brings a number of new features, including the shared album, improved search in the Gallery app, and much more, the update includes updates for system apps and February security patches.

One UI 5.1 Features

The One UI 5.1 update brings a host of new and improved features that are sure to enhance the overall user experience. Some of the notable features include improved image editing capabilities, such as automatic shadow and reflection remover, and the ability to change selfie color tones easily. The update also introduces Shared Family Album, which lets users share photos and videos with family members in a private album.

In addition, the update includes an Expert RAW shortcut in the stock camera app, making it easier for professional photographers to capture and edit high-quality images. The One UI 5.1 update also makes it easier to minimize or maximize app window size by simply dragging its corners. In split-screen multitasking mode, frequently used apps are now displayed first. Samsung DeX also gets improved window resizing in the split-screen mode, thanks to the divider. The Weather app has also been updated with new features, such as the ability to display hourly precipitation information and a new dynamic widget that shows all the important information without needing to scroll. In the last few days, Samsung has expanded the April 2024 security patch update to many Galaxy devices, but, due to the carrier network limitation, the update has reached only the locked variants of the devices. Fortunately, some unlocked Galaxy devices also received a new update.

Notably, Samsung has rolled out the April 2024 security patch to multiple unlocked Galaxy devices, such as the Galaxy S22, Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Z Fold 3, and Galaxy Z Flip 3. Users who own the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra can identify the update by the firmware version numbers S901U1UES4DXD1, S906U1UES4DXD1, and S908U1UES4DXD1 sequentially. The Galaxy Z Flip 4 is getting an update with the firmware version number F721U1UES4EXD1.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 are getting new updates with the firmware version numbers F926U1UES5HXD1 and F711U1UES6HXD1, respectively. If you are using any of the mentioned devices, you should start getting notifications about the update.

According to the official documentation, the April 2024 security patch could bring more than 40 fixes. In detail, Google has added 27 fixes, and along with this, there are 17 more fixes that are included by Samsung, which exclusively provides support for Galaxy devices.

Moreover, the latest update may also provide some extra improvements and stability by changing the internal functions of the devices. But as far as its significance, the user will not get any important changes for the device.
