Samsung brings One UI 5.1 to carrier-locked Galaxy Note 20 in the USA

Samsung kept up with the times and started rolling out the incredibly modern One UI 5.1, which debuted with smartphones in the Galaxy S23 range, to an increasing number of smartphones; as of right now, it’s only available on the Samsung Galaxy Note 20, the final member of the Galaxy Note range to still receive support.

Samsung has also started running with the most recent One UI 5.1, presented a few weeks ago and already arrived on other top-of-the-range smartphones of the house, even earlier compared. After the various Galaxy S20, S21, S22, Galaxy Z Fold4, Z Flip4, Z Fold3 and Z Flip3, today is the turn of the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 exponent of the latest generation of smartphones Galaxy Note, kept alive by the Ultra models of the Galaxy S series.

The carrier-locked Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra get a new update that brings with it the One UI 5.1 in the United States. The new firmware in distribution is the N98*USQU3HWB3 (where the “*” is the discriminant between the two models and the two variants of the mobile network). The update currently available on Xfinity Mobile, Comcast, Charter, and Spectrum Mobile network.

Along with the latest One UI, which brings a number of new features, including the shared album, improved search in the Gallery app, and much more, the update includes updates for system apps and February security patches.

One UI 5.1 Features

The One UI 5.1 update brings a host of new and improved features that are sure to enhance the overall user experience. Some of the notable features include improved image editing capabilities, such as automatic shadow and reflection remover, and the ability to change selfie color tones easily. The update also introduces Shared Family Album, which lets users share photos and videos with family members in a private album.

In addition, the update includes an Expert RAW shortcut in the stock camera app, making it easier for professional photographers to capture and edit high-quality images. The Gallery app also gets improved search functionality, as well as the ability to view and edit EXIF information of images and videos. [Only available for flagships selected smartphones]

The One UI 5.1 update also makes it easier to minimize or maximize app window size by simply dragging its corners. In split-screen multitasking mode, frequently used apps are now displayed first. Samsung DeX also gets improved window resizing in the split-screen mode, thanks to the divider. The Weather app has also been updated with new features, such as the ability to display hourly precipitation information and a new dynamic widget that shows all the important information without needing to scroll. The One UI 5.1 update also includes several additional features that further improve the user experience. One of these features is the new battery widgets, which provide users with more detailed information about their device’s battery usage and performance.

In addition, the update brings improved search functionality to Samsung Internet, making it easier to find the information you need quickly and easily. You can also now access recently browsed Samsung Internet tabs on your phone using a Windows PC, which is a handy feature for users who frequently switch between devices.

Another useful feature that comes with the One UI 5.1 update is the Smart Suggestions widget, which now includes playlists and music recommendations from Spotify. This is a great feature for music lovers who are looking for new songs to listen to.

Galaxy A33 receives One UI 6.1 update in India

Samsung is working hard to provide the One UI 6.1 update to all the eligible devices. However,  this time, due to some advanced features, the company has taken time to expand the update to eligible devices. In the first phase, it rolled out the update to the latest flagship device, then in phase two, it distributed the update to older flagship devices. Now, it has started rolling out the update to midrange and budget-friendly devices. Now, moving forward, the Galaxy A33 has started getting the One UI 6.1 update.

Samsung has rolled out the May 2024 security patch for the Galaxy A33 5G and Galaxy S20 FE in Europe; however, these devices have already received the update in different regions, which doesn’t have any significant changes for the device, but if you are conscious of the security, you should update the device to the latest version.

The Galaxy S20 FE 5G and Galaxy A33 5G are getting May 2024 security patch updates with the firmware version numbers G781BXXSBHXE5 and A336BXXS9EXE2, respectively. Meanwhile, the 4G variant of the Galaxy S20 FE has the firmware version number G780FXXSHFXE5.

Verizon Galaxy A14 5G gets One UI 6.1 in the USA

Samsung launched the Galaxy A14 5G smartphone back in 2023; it was a budget-friendly smartphone. With the latest development, the company has introduced its successor, the Galaxy A15; however, to introduce some new functionalities to older devices, the company has already started rolling out the One UI 6.1 update for the device.

Samsung has already introduced the One UI 6.1 update for the Galaxy A14 5G devices, but it was limited to Asian regions. Now it has rolled out the update for the locked variant in the US. However, currently the update is spotted for the Verizon network. Users can identify the update by the firmware version number A146USQU7DXE1. It is worth noticing that the update is using the April 2024 security patch.
