Samsung is rapidly updating the April 2023 security update for its Galaxy devices. The company has updated most of the devices in different countries, but having a presence in many countries, the Korean giant is gradually expanding the update for them.
The April 2023 security update is currently rolling out in Australia. The update is now live for two older flagship devices, including the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S21 series. It has a common security update which is often available every month, but this time the update brings some more improvements to the device’s functions.
According to the changelog, the April 2023 security update also includes some more improvements for Camera and Gallery. As usual, it also brings security enhancements which were added by Google and Samsung both. As per the official documentation of Samsung, Google has included patches that target Android OS, while Samsung has introduced patches which are exclusively available for Galaxy devices.
The update for Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+ and Galaxy S20 Ultra is receiving the update with firmware version numbers G981BXXUGHWCG, G986BXXUGHWCG and G988BXXUGHWCG, respectively. While the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+ and Galaxy S21 Ultra with version numbers G991BXXU7EWCH, G996BXXU7EWCH and G998BXXU7EWCH sequentially.
Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S21 both belong to the flagship category; therefore, these devices are listed under the monthly security update category, which means both devices will get new security updates each month. It is also worth noticing that with the update, the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S21 series devices will also get the image clipper feature.
