Samsung has recently rolled out the March 2024 security patch update for the Galaxy Watch 5 series devices. The latest update is not only limited to bringing security enhancements; it will also provide an update for enhancing the new ability to connect the Galaxy Watch with Samsung TV.

The latest update for the Galaxy Watch 5 (40mm) and Galaxy Watch 5 (44mm) is coming with the firmware version numbers R905USQU1BXB7 and R915USQU1BXB7, respectively. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro is getting an update with the firmware version number R925USQU1BXB7.

The update is now available for the locked version of the Galaxy Watch 5, which is bound to the Verizon network. It is expected that the company will soon expand the update to more carriers. The same update has already been rolled out in several countries, including South Korea. Along with the update, it has already been rolled out for the unlocked versions as well.

According to the changelog, the latest update for the Galaxy Watch 5 will provide the ability to show Samsung Health data on the SmartTV directly via smartwatch. With this ability, users can do exercise and watch data on the big screen at the same time. It is worth noticing that this feature is only comparable to the Samsung SmartTV, which was released in 2024, and to connect it, you have to set up the same Samsung account on both devices.

If you are using the LTE variant of the Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, which are bound to the Verizon network, you can now update the watch by following some simple steps: Tap on the watch settings, select watch software update, and then hit the download and install option. It is possible that you have not received the update yet because it will be distributed gradually to all the devices.

Samsung Galaxy Watch7 Will Have More Options

Samsung is too close to debuting its next-generation smartwatch, the Galaxy Watch 7, but this time the brand offers a mesmerizing feature to watch. It might run a newer version of Wear OS and One UI Watch to offer more advanced features. Let’s look at what new novelties the watch will bring.

As a ritual, Samsung introduced its new watch at the second Galaxy Unpacked event held in the year’s second half. For this year, the reports have already revealed that the Unpacked event will be held in the second week of July 2024. Apart from the launch date, and let’s discuss the new features and facilities, the reports are saying that the forthcoming Galaxy Watch 7 will arrive in three variants as well as increased storage.

Usually, Samsung offers two variants for its Galaxy Watch; for instance, the previous Galaxy Watch 6 came in Standard and Classic. If the reports come true, then the Galaxy Watch 7 will arrive in three variants. Apart from this, the brand is also setting up to upgrade the storage as compared to its predecessor; on the Galaxy Watch 6, 16GB of storage is available, and as per reports, on the upcoming Galaxy Watch 7, 32GB will be available.

Not only the storage and variants, but the whole model number scheme of the Galaxy Watch 7 is appearing to have changed. Check out the model number mentioned below:

The first variant includes two model numbers:

  • SM-L300
  • SM-L305

The second variant includes two model numbers:

  • SM-L310
  • SM-L315

The highest-end variant also includes two model numbers:

  • SM-L700
  • SM-L705

It appears that the model numbers that end with the number ‘5’ might be the ones with cellular connectivity and eSIM. However, it has already been revealed that the Galaxy Watch 7 will be the first gadget from Samsung coupled with a 3nm chip, which will be 50% more power-efficient as compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy Watch 6.

Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra with microLED display release may have to wait

Samsung is gearing up for the next-generation Galaxy Smartwatch—the Galaxy Watch 7 series. The leaks and rumors have already started blowing ahead of any official announcement. Let’s take a closer look at what reports are saying about the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 series.

Samsung Galaxy Watch fans are eagerly waiting for the next edition, the Galaxy Watch 7. To increase enthusiasm among them, reports and leaks are getting interesting, as they are unveiling the possibility that the Galaxy Watch 7 could adopt microLED displays on board smartwatches.

Samsung has already proved its consciousness to offer the best display to its gadgets by offering new Gorilla Glass Armour as well as an anti-reflective treatment capable of eliminating 75% of reflections on the Galaxy S24 Ultra variant, and somewhere all this is hinting that Samsung may offer microLED panels on future generation Galaxy Watches. But the reports are saying that for this new upgrade, fans have to wait at least until 2025.

MicroOLED displays use modular technology that uses little LED devices to create color pixels; instead, unlike traditional LED screens, microLED screens are “emissive” and do not even require a backlight for projecting colored light towards the user.

The post on X shared by @Tech_Reve reported that “Samsung had been developing a micro LED Galaxy Watch with a target release year of 2025.” This means that this summer, the Galaxy Watch 7 will not arrive with a microLED panel. He also mentioned that the recent hiccups in the Apple project for an Apple Watch with a microLED display could “expand” to that of Samsung since the two companies have very similar plans regarding this.

If this report comes true, the Galaxy Watch 8 is supposed to debut in 2025, and this would come with a microLED panel. So expectations for the microLED used in the Galaxy Watch 7 are worthless somewhere.
