Samsung to bring back 2x portrait mode with the next camera update
This year’s top-notch Galaxy device, the Galaxy S23, is getting a reliable number of updates in its camera. If you are unaware, the Galaxy S23 series members, specifically the Ultra device, feature some of the best camera sensors in them. However, the Galaxy S23’s HDR has been showing some issues lately, for which a bug fix update is awaited. The company will launch a bug fix in the next software update along with a camera mode.
Informatively, the Galaxy S23 device is showing some issues in its camera experience during lighting conditions. Previously it was said that the company is working on this HDR issue, and the improvements are in progress. It was previously expected that the May 2023 update would fix this issue, but we all know that didn’t happen. Hence, it is possible that with the next update (maybe June 2023), the company will fix the problem.
Let us tell you, this is not the only good news for the Galaxy S23 series; instead, it will also get back the 2x portrait mode with the next camera update. This information has been confirmed by one of Samsung’s moderators– in charge of the camera. He said in response to another post on the community that double portrait will be applied in the next SW update. Getting back such an amazing feature will surely improve the photographic abilities and camera experience of the Galaxy S23 family.
For Samsung fans who prefer mid-range, affordable devices, the giant is setting up a new M-series device called the Galaxy M35 for them.
The Samsung Galaxy M35 is expected to knock on the door soon, as it shows up on the Google Play Console. The report from YTECHB is unveiling that now the Korean giant is gearing up to bring a new affordable smartphone, the Galaxy M35.
Apart from the appearance of the Galaxy M35 on the Google Play Console, a few specs of the smartphone also come to light; for instance, processor, storage, and more. It is reported that the forthcoming Galaxy M35 is powered by an in-house Exynos 1380 chipset.
The storage package counts 6GB of RAM but is expected to bring different internal storage options that might be available at its debut. The listing also reveals that the upcoming Galaxy M35 will run Android 14. The picture stored in the database confirms the upcoming Galaxy M35 features a triple camera setup.
The rest of the specifications are yet to be revealed, but it seems that they might be similar to the Galaxy A35; for instance, the Galaxy A35 features a 6.6-inch AMOLED display, a 50 MP main camera, and a 5000mAh battery. In a way, it is not quite surprising that the Galaxy M35 is exactly similar; however, the M series smartphones usually arrive with the use of bigger batteries.
The brand has not revealed anything regarding the smartphone officially yet, but it will be interesting to see what new novelties the upcoming Galaxy M35 will bring.

Samsung is close to debuting its next-generation foldable series, which includes only two devices: the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the Galaxy Z Flip 6. The rumored Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Fan Edition (FE) device is now appearing not to join the series, as the report says.
Even before any official statement or launch, leaks and rumors already revealed most details regarding these phones, and the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE was also part of them. Samsung foldable fans, especially those who prefer budget devices, eagerly waited for the device, and now the report says that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE may have been canceled, at least for now.
It is speculated by the reports from the Korean publication The Elec that Samsung is reconsidering its plans to launch the Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE this year in July alongside the standard Galaxy Z Fold 6 for several reasons; for instance, the publication notes that the early production units of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE were not thinner as compared to the key rivals from Chinese manufacturers, which made Samsung rethink the existence of the device.
The device lacked a stylus digitizer, which means it wouldn’t support S-Pen input the same as the original Galaxy Z Fold 6, making it less attractive to some users, which is also the reason behind the decision. Apart from this, the brand is said to have recently completed the testing of the device, featuring an IPX8 rating and a 200,000 fold rating. The Korean giant may have canceled the Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE as it’s not satisfied not to offer something unique over its competitors at the moment, so it’s quite better to take time.
However, the delay doesn’t mean that the Korean giant has given up on the idea of introducing cheaper foldables, as the report states that the Korean brand will continue to work on those and may land the Galaxy Z Flip FE and Galaxy Z Fold FE models together in 2025.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 are scheduled for the Galaxy Unpacked event in July 2024, along with a few other gadgets, including the Galaxy Ring, Galaxy Watch 7 series, and the Galaxy Buds 3 series.
Apple is now setting up to debut in the foldable market by introducing its first foldable iPhone to compete with Samsung.
Transparently, Samsung is leading the foldable market, but soon it will be tough to maintain the legacy since Apple is actively working on bringing its first foldable iPhone into the industry. The reports from Taiwan’s DigiTimes reveal that Apple has currently signed a display supply contract for foldable devices with Samsung Display.
However, earlier this year, a few reports reported that Apple dropped the idea of bringing a foldable iPhone because of some durability issues, at least for now. A new report said that somehow it appears that the Samsung Display has succeeded in meeting Apple’s demands for enhanced durability.
Initially, Apple is considering mass-producing a 20.3-inch and 8.2-inch foldable iPhone by the end of 2026. The Head of Samsung Electronics MX Business Division Development Team, Choi Won-jun, stated at the Galaxy S23 media briefing held during MWC 2023 that “Apple’s entry into the foldable phone market is very welcome,” adding, “It means that Apple also acknowledges the value of our market leadership, following China.”
On another note, Samsung Electronics restrained the lead in the AI smartphone image by introducing Galaxy AI on the Galaxy S24 series earlier this year. As a result, it achieved its highest market share in the U.S. smartphone market in four years.
Samsung’s market share reached 31% in the first quarter of 2024, which is the highest since 2020, and the key reason behind this appears to be AI-based features. This success is credited to the Galaxy S24 attracting premium phone switchers and conquering market share from Google and TCL.
Now, as a strong competitor, Apple is also expected to enter the AI phone market with its next-generation iPhone 16 series, which is reported to be enabled with Apple’s “Ajax” generative AI model and supported by features in iOS 18. It is expected that details of iOS 18 will probably be unveiled at Apple’s WWDC in June.
