Carrier-locked Galaxy S21 and Galaxy A52 5G get May 2023 update in the US
The latest May 2023 security update is now available for the Galaxy S21 series device and Galaxy A52 5G device. The update doesn’t include any innovation for the machines, but being one of the monthly security updates, it comes with some security fixes. Let me know more about it.
The latest update is rolling out for Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra and comes with version numbers G991USQS6EWD5, G996USQS6EWD5, and G998USQS6EWD5 sequentially. The Galaxy A52 5G is getting the update with version number A526USQS8EWE2.
It is worth noting that the May 2023 security update is currently rolling out or locked variant, so users who are using the Galaxy S21 series and Galaxy A52, which are affiliated with specific carriers, will get the update. As of now, the update is now available on two networks, including Xfinity (Comcast) and US Cellular, sequentially.
As per the official documentation, Samsung has listed all these devices, including Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, Galaxy S21 Ultra, and Galaxy A52, in the monthly security update list. It indicates that these devices will get new security updates each month.
The Galaxy S21 was introduced back in 2021; it came with Android 11, which was the latest OS of that time. Samsunsung has introduced the Galaxy S21 in two variants based on processors, including Exynos 2100 and Qualcomm 888. Apart from these, Samsung has promised to give five-year software support.
Meanwhile, Galaxy A52 5G was also launched back in 2021, it was Samsung‘s midrange smartphone, and the company has packed this device with Android 11. However, Samsung has promised to give at least three major updates to the device and five-year security updates. Which means you will get the update up to 2026.
