Meta Makes Facebook Messenger End-to-End Encryption Default

Spread the love

Meta has decided that now the messages that are running on Messenger will now be encrypted from end to end. However,  it is not a new feature for the application; it has been available for a long time, but previously it was an option where people had to manually turn it on. But with the new development, the company has decided to make it active by default. By making this change, the company has ensured that its users have safe conversations and that their personal data will not be leaked.

The end-to-end encryption will give you an extra layer of safety. In detail, when you start a conversion with anyone, including your family and loved ones, from the moment you send any message to the end when it is received, all this process is kept secret, and only you and the receiver can read the messages. Even Meta could not access any information about the messages unless you chose to report a bug message.

Along with applying end-to-end functionality to Messenger, Meta has also introduced some more new features for enhancing the user experience. This includes editing and disappearing messages and upgrading the quality of photos and videos.

Edit a Message: With this feature, users will be able to edit the messages after they are sent; however, to edit a message, you will get only 15 minutes. It is worth noticing that you can still report abuse of the edited message, and the company will take action on the previous version of the message.

Disappearing messages: Now users will be able to set a limit of up to 24 hours to automatically disappear messages. The company has also made some interface changes so users can easily identify if the feature is active or not.

Photo and video upgrades: There are several types of content shared on Messenger that some people save to their devices, but due to quality degradation, users didn’t enjoy much. But now, with new changes, Meta has decided to increase the quality of photos and videos. However, currently, this change is limited to some users, but soon it will be available to all users.
