Carrier-locked Galaxy S22 Series get January 2024 update in the US

The Galaxy S22 series started receiving the January 2024 security patch in the US. Some carriers, including T-Mobile and MetroPCS, have spotted the update, and it will soon be available for the unlocked variants as well. Earlier, the European units of the device had already received the update and are now expanding to more countries.

Users who own the locked variant of the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra can identify the latest update by the firmware version numbers S901USQS4DWLG, S906USQS4DWLG, and S908USQS4DWLG, respectively. The latest update is in a small software package of 424.14 MB.

Google designed the January 2024 security patch to provide security-related enhancements for Android devices. To make the Galaxy device safer, Samsung has also added some fixes in the update. As per the official documentation, there are a total of 80 fixes introduced, of which 75 were added by Google and the other 5 by Samsung.

Last week, Samsung introduced the latest June 2024 security patch to many popular devices belonging to the flagship and midrange categories. Now the company has started expanding the update to budget-friendly devices, including the Galaxy M15 and Galaxy F15.

Notably, the Galaxy M15 device is spotted reviving the June 2024 security patch in India and Europe with the firmware version numbers M156BXXS2AXF3 and M156BXXS2AXF2, respectively. Meanwhile, the Galaxy F15 has received an update in India with the firmware version number E156BXXS2AXF1.
